Racing News ISR - ISR And Jaafar In The Top Ten On Day 1 Of The Moscow Weekend

Cloudy skies and chilly temperatures were the leitmotif of the first day of F.Renault 3.5 running at Moscow Raceway. On the track designed by F1's best known architect, Hermann Tilke, and located in the outskirts of the Russian capital, the Czech team owned by Igor Salaquarda started the weekend on the right foot with a productive day of setup work.

Jazeman Jaafar and the team's technical staff tried many different solutions to try and find the grip on a tarmac surface that, being rarely used during the year, didn't offer much. Their job paid dividends especially in the second hour of Free Practice, a session that saw the Malaysian talent post the tenth quickest time, just four tenths off a top three spot. Jazeman completed 43 laps without a single issue, a performance that bodes well for tomorrow, a day that will host the first qualifying session and the first race of the Russian weekend.

Jazeman Jaafar: S1 - P19; S2 - P10
"Driving on such a green track was tough, especially in the morning, but things got better and better as the cars kept running and the racing line got cleaner. We have the feeling we have found the right direction with the setup, but tomorrow will still be a challenging day as the grip level will keep improving. We will need to react very quickly to the very changeable track conditions, but after the good job we did today I feel pretty confident".
