Good Showing For Avf On Wsr Day 1 In Moscow

AVF couldn't have hoped for a better start of their Russian F.Renault 3.5 weekend. On the three-year old Moscow Raceway, the venue designed by F.1 architect Hermann Tilke and located 100 kilometers west of the Russian capital, both Zoel Amberg and Beitkse Visser completed the day's programme without a single mistake, preparing for tomorrow's effort in the best possible way. The Swiss driver opted for a cautious approach in the morning Practice, but in FP2 he upped his game and ended as high as second place thanks to a 1'21"239 he clocked in the final minutes of the session. Visser had an amazing day too: the talented Dutch girl exceeded the team's expectations being on the pace straight out of the box despite being at her debut on the narrow layout of the Russian venue. Beitske's pace was really good especially on used tyres, a performance that bodes well for tomorrow's Race 1.

Zoel Amberg: S1 - P14; S2 - P2
"The track was really green today, especially in the morning, so finding the right setup wasn't an easy task. Anyway, AVF is a really good team and today they proved it once more: they understood how quickly the track was improving, they made the right setup changes and at the end of the second session, when we decided to fit new rubber, the car was just perfect. I'm really happy of our performance today, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's qualifying and Race 1".

Beitske Visser: S1 -P18; S2 - P17
"I'm really delighted with today's outcome. It was my first time on this track that is both narrow and challenging, and it wasn't easy. Especially this morning the surface offered no grip at all, but I still managed to avoid mistakes and found my pace quite quickly. FP2 was even better: on used tyres I was just seven tenths off the quicker drivers in the field, proving that I'm getting closer. I lacked some confidence to do the same on new tyres, but my progression is very encouraging and it's good to know that there's still more to come".
