Nagashima Makes More Progress In Assen

Tetsuta Nagashima is looking forward to his first race at the legendary Van Drenthe Circuit in Assen tomorrow, following another day of progress aboard his Teluru team JiR Webike Moto2 machine.

The 21-year-old spent the day continuing to learn the circuit and is hoping for a wet race tomorrow where he thinks the rain would level the playing field to the more experienced riders just in front of him. Yet again it was a very close qualifying session with just two seconds covering the top 29 riders with Tetsu only just over two seconds off the pole sitter. Once more it was series leader Esteve Rabat who took pole from Dominique Aegerter and Briton Sam Lowes with Rabat’s team mate Mika Kallio in fourth position.

Tetsuta Nagashima, Teluru team JiR Webike rider: best lap 1m 39.419s

“We are having typical Dutch weather here in Assen, but it didn't disturb us much today. We had a shower just before the qualifying session, but the track dried very quickly so that I could improve my lap time from before. I'm getting used to the track, but it is a little bit difficult to be on track by myself as I still cannot find the best line at some corners, but it will be better in the race when I ride in the group. I'm still losing time at some certain corners, so I'll try to find out the way to ride better. As the rain doesn't worry me at all, the race might be interesting tomorrow if it rains, but of course I'll give of my best in any weather condition!”

Grand Prix of the Netherlands, Assen – Qualifying results:

1. Esteve RABAT – 1’ 37.311s

2. Dominique AEGERTER - 1'37.462s - +0.151s

4. Mika KALLIO - 1'37.699s - +0.388s

5. Takaaki NAKAGAMI - 1'37.876s - +0.565s

30. Tetsuta NAGASHIMA - 1'39.419s - +2.108s
