Historic IMSA Weekend Continues At The Glen


Sportscar racing was underway throughout a busy afternoon at Watkins Glen International that saw practice sessions, qualifying and three races on Friday of Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend.

Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge took to The Glen first with practice and qualifying for Saturday’s Continental Tire 150, which has 59 entries. Eric Curran and Lawson Aschenbach won the pole for the GS class by a little more than a tenth of a second, leading the way for the Camaros to solidify three of the top four spots. In the ST class, Marc Miller and Tyler McQuarrie won the pole, by less than a tenth of a second.

For the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites race, Mikhail Goikhberg won the first race of the day, winning by over six tenths of a second. The win was the fourth in five races for Goikhberg, who has not finished outside of the top two in an event this year.

Tickets are available for Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend. Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday for a full day of action. Several green flags drop at The Glen, starting with the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites at 8:10 a.m. Continental Tire 150 starts at 11:35 a.m., followed by Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series (5:30 p.m.) and GT3 Cup Challenge (6:45 p.m.). The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship autograph session is set for 12:15 p.m. at team transporters.

Fans are invited to join both pre-race and Victory Lane ceremonies for every race this weekend.
