Farano had three podium finishes in four races before earning the top spot Friday in his No. 63 Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo fielded by Jota Corse, representing Lamborghini Dallas. He started third and raced his way to the second position after the required caution midway through the race. Leader Victor Gonzales spun in the infamous Bus Stop, giving up the lead to Farano, who successfully defended it through the remainder of the 50-minute race. Farano pulled into a tie with Kevin Conway for the lead in the championship with the victory.

"It was a hard fight out there," Farano said. "Particularly that first stint and then right at the beginning of the second stint. Everybody grouped up, and there were three or four cars challenging for every corner. The first few laps of that second stint were quite interesting, to say the least. But it was a good race. I really enjoyed it."

The duo of Ryan Eversley and Ray Mason brought their No. 07 Mitchum Motorsport entry across the finish line in second place, with Cody Ware following in third in the No. 38 Lamborghini Long Island Gallardo.

Ware was also the first Amateur class finisher. Drivers Joe Courtney and Peter Argetsinger placed second in Amateur in the No. 77 Lamborghini Boston entry fielded by Musante Motorsport, followed by the No. 15 Lamborghini Toronto entry fielded by Rick Ware Racing and driven by Lance Fenton.

There have been four winners in the first five rounds of competition this season, including Al Carter, Andrew Palmer and defending series champion Conway, who has two wins.

Farano is 54, while third-place finisher Cody Shane Ware, 18, is the youngest participant in Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America. This was Ware's first race in the series. He is the son of Rick Ware Racing team owner Rick Ware.

Round 6 at Watkins Glen International will start at 5:30 p.m. (ET, 21:30 GMT) Saturday, June 28. It is a 50-minute race.

In Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo - Europe competition this weekend at Circuit Paul Ricard, Milos Pavlovic captured the pole position in the No. 3 Bonaldi Motorsport entry. Both races are set to run tomorrow, with Race One at 10:15 and Race Two at 16.15 (all times CET). Both races will be shown LIVE in Italy on Class TV (Ch.27/Cable)
