Team Sahlen Podiums Continental Tire 150

An electrifying day of sports car racing continued during Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend at Watkins Glen International Saturday, with the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen qualifying headlining the day along with the Continental Tire 150 race.

In the first action of the day, Mikhail Goikhberg swept the weekend for the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites races, winning the second race of the weekend in the series. Goikhberg is dominating the series, winning five of six races this season.

In the Continental Tire 150, Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis took home the checkered flag in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Grand Sport (GS) class, followed by BJ Zacharias and Brad Jaeger, and in third was Matt Plumb and Nick Longhi. In the Street Tuner (ST) class, Ryan Eversley and Kyle Gimple crossed the finish line first, followed by Stevan McAleer and Chad McCumbee, and Team Sahlen’s Wayne and Will Nonnamaker, respectively.

Alex Brundle put the No. 42 on the pole for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race in the Prototype class. He will team with Gustavo Yacamán and Ho-Pin Tung in Sunday’s six hour race. In the Prototype Challenge (PC) class, Colin Braun and Jon Bennett will start first. Andy Priaulx and teammate Bill Auberlen will lead the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class to the green flag while the team of Leh Keen, Cooper MacNeil and Philipp Frommenwiler will lead the GT Daytona (GTD) class to the green.

The second race of weekend for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo saw Kevin Conway take the checkered flag by less than one second over Victor Gonzales.

In the final race of the night, Colin Thompson made a pass on the last lap to win the second Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge race of the weekend. With the win, Thompson swept the weekend at Watkins Glen in GT3.

Tickets are available for tomorrow’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. Gates open at 7 a.m. Green flag drops at 11:10 AM.

Fans are invited to join both pre-race and Victory Lane ceremonies for tomorrow’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.
