Momo Ngt Motorsport Post-Qualifying Report Sahlen's Six Hours Of The Glen

After a tough qualifying session in the competitive GT Daytona (GTD) class of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Watkins Glen, the MOMO NGT Motorsport team will start the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen from the 15th class position.

Season-long MOMO NGT driver and Watkins Glen novice, Kuba Giermaziak, qualified the team's No. 30 Porsche 911 GT America (Type 991) during the 15-minute session on Saturday, and fought through issues in the Porsche to clock a fastest lap time of 1:51.009 in the 21-car GTD field. Giermaziak struggled with understeer in the car as well as another undefined issue that the team will undoubtedly identify and repair before the start of Sunday's legendary event. With six hours to advance through the field, the MOMO NGT Motorsport is hopeful that their first race at Watkins Glen International will bring a strong finish.

Kuba Giermaziak, driver of No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:

"Obviously this qualifying run was not fantastic. It was the worst qualifying position we've had so far this year because we had some issues. We need to work on the car a little bit because the gap is too big. I didn't do a perfect lap but we are little too far off. Normally, we are good in the race pace so that's what we are hoping for. The race is long. At Sebring, we started from last, and after two hours we were in first, so we can move up during the race. We just need to find our problems and define them and fix them and we will have a shot tomorrow."

Ramez Wahab, NGT Motorsports Team Owner, No. 30 MOMO NGT Motorsport Porsche 911 GTD:
"Unfortunately, we were two seconds off the pace. We don't know why for now so we have to check the car. We have had some understeer the whole weekend, but that's an issue of the track. Obviously we have some other problem and we have to figure out what that is. We will get it sorted by tomorrow's race and have plenty of time during the six hours to make up for this issue."

MOMO also has entrants competing in Round Seven of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup USA by Yokohama and Rounds Five and Six of the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda at The Glen. MOMO NGT driver Christina Nielsen is tackling double driving duty this weekend, racing in both the IMSA TUDOR Championship Six Hours of the Glen and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. Nielsen drove her No. 25 Porsche to a solid fifth position in the Platinum class during Friday evening's 45-minute GT3 Cup race after having no prior experience at this circuit.

Christina Nielsen, driver of No. 25 MOMO IMSA GT3:
"The start of the GT3 Cup race was quite okay and I gained a position on the first lap. After that, it was a really tough race. I struggled a bit to keep in the top four but I hope the change we made will help and make me more competitive to fight for an even higher position. Unfortunately, I had a bad qualifying with only one free lap, so I'll be starting eighth. Overall, a fifth place finish is not that bad so I'm quite happy with it, especially for my first time at Watkins Glen. It's not an easy track and I think I held a good pace through the race."

GT3 Cup Challenge MOMO driver, Eduardo Cisneros
Other MOMO drivers that competed in Round Seven of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama and Rounds Five and Six of the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda at Watkins Glen International include:
Eduardo Cisneros, No. 29 Platinum Class GT3 Cup - finished 13th in the Platinum class
Fred Kaimer, No. 23 Master in the Gold Class - finished 8th in the Master's Gold class
Ludovico Manfredi, No. 30 Master in the L2 class - finished 1st in Round Five and 2nd in Round Six

Cooper Tires Prototype Lites MOMO driver, Ludovico Manfredi
The green flag drops on the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen at 11:15 a.m. EDT on Sunday, June 29. Tune in to FOX Sports 1 for live coverage of the race beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
