Point Finish For Amberg Visser Makes An Impression In Q2

After yesterday's podium finish, clinched thanks to an amazing performance by Zoel Amberg, AVF closed the Russian F.Renault 3.5 weekend on a positive note, bagging more points with the talent from Switzerland and enjoying Beitske Visser's amazing progression. On the third and last day of running at Moscow Raceway, the Dutch girl made an impression on the whole World Series by Renault paddock delivering her first top ten performance in qualifying: in a session that was plagued by traffic, Beitske found enough room for a clean lap and posted a 1'21"614 that was worth 10th place, just 0.04 adrift of championship leader Carlos Sainz. After her amazing qualifying performance Beitske closed the race in P14, but despite losing a few places she still delivered a good drive, keeping at bay a group of aggressive rivals that included series veterans Sorensen and Nato.

Zoel Amberg, who hoped to repeat yesterday's podium performance, was hampered by traffic in Qualifying and couldn't do better than 7th place. In the race his getaway was good, but a position lost in the pit-stop process meant that he crossed the line in 8th place. Not what Zoel hoped for, but still good points added to the weekend's tally.

Zoel Amberg: Q2 - P7; R2 - P8
"Unluckily qualifying was a bit messy, with lots of drivers slowing down in the middle of the track to get themselves enough room to push on the following lap. I had to abort two laps to avoid them, and that costed me at least a couple of places on the grid. I started from P7, my getaway was quite good, but then Laine pitted way earlier than me and got out in front. After that I was quicker than him, but exactly as yesterday I couldn't find any room to try a move, and I had to settle for P8. Still, it isn't too bad, we got some more points in a weekend that all in all was very good for us".

Beitske Visser: Q2 - P10; R2 - P13
"I was really happy with my showing in qualifying, putting half of the field behind me was a very good feeling. I still have to work on my race pace, as I need to be stronger and more consistent over the distance, but after yesterday's good race I managed to progress further, and that's the point of my whole season. Now I'm looking forward to the Nuerburgring, I hope the German weekend will be as good as this one for me".
