Racing News - Good Performance But No Points For Ghiotto In Moscow Race 2

After a disappointing Saturday, Luca Ghiotto ended the Moscow F.Renault 3.5 weekend on a positive note. While the final result of Race 2 wasn't too shiny, being just a 14th place, the placement doesn't reflect the real performance potential shown by the Italian driver at Moscow Raceway today.

Once again, it was qualiying that made Luca's day a tricky one: the talented driver from Vicenza struggled for pace and hit some traffic, ending up with a 17th grid spot that seemed the premise to a very difficult race, as a good starting position is paramount on a narrow and twisty track as the Russian one.

Despite a track that didn't offer any real overtaking chance, Luca drove an aggressive race and made the most of a very good race pace, especially right the mandatory pit-stop when he was as quick as the leader. Ghiotto's speed allowed him to pass fellow competitors Tunjo and Nato for P14, being one of the few drivers that managed to climb the standings to improve his starting position.
Now Luca is looking forward to the next championship round in Nurburgring, aiming to quickly return to his usual form.

Luca Ghiotto: Q2 - P17; R2 - P14

"Today was much better than yesterday, I felt more at ease in the car and even if qualifying wasn't too good once again, my race pace was quite ok. I managed to recover a couple of places on Tunjo and Nato, but then I got stuck behind Visser. I was reasonably faster than her, but she didn't do any mistake and I couldn't find a spot to pass her. This weekend didn't go as I had hoped, but I know that my potential is much better than this. I look forward to the Nurburgring round to get back on the pace".
