Percat Aims To Rebound In Townsville

Coates Hire Racing’s Nick Percat is aiming to rebound on the Harris Park street circuit at this weekend’s Castrol Townsville 500 V8 Supercars event.

Percat endured a tough weekend in the last round at Hidden Valley and despite showing good speed in Sunday’s race and running inside the top ten, he eventually crossed the line in 23rd after a slow pit stop following a last minute call to pitlane.

The Townsville street circuit is one of Percat’s favorites and he has enjoyed success here over the past two years.

In 2012 he finished second in the opening Dunlop Series race to Scott McLaughlin and went on to dominate Sunday’s encounter, finishing the round second to McLaughlin.

Last year Percat switched to the Porsche Carrera Cup and after qualifying on the front row, finished two of the three races right behind round winner and multiple Carrera Cup champion, Craig Baird.

Before heading to Townsville Percat said: “I am looking forward to the warm sunny weather again for sure. Townsville is another great street circuit we go to and the whole city gets behind it.

“It’s a tough event, maybe not quite as hard as the Clipsal but the way the kerbs are, can be hard on the cars and we often see cars snapping the dampers.

“I have always enjoyed this circuit and I am really looking forward to rebounding from Darwin, where the results were not good enough. We have to put our best foot forward and push the HHA Racing Commodore back into the top ten”.
