Alvaro Barba Joins Ombra Racing In Budapest

For the fourth round of the International GT Open, starting in three-days time on Budapest's famed Hungaroring, Ombra Racing is happy to welcome Alvaro Barba back into the team. Barba, GT Open champion in 2010, will drive alongside Alan Sicart stepping-in for Stefano Costantini, who took the doctors' advice to take a one-race break in order to better recover from the back strain that ensued his high-speed crash in Jerez.

If Stefano is still recovering and is expected to be back in top form soon, the #63 car that was involved in the crash is already on its wheels and ready to race. The team's staff stripped it completely and carried major repairs in record time, so to be able to race in Hungary.
The red and blue Ferrari 458 will be Ombra's only race in the Budapest event: due to irrevocable work commitments Mario Cordoni had no other choice than missing the Hungarian event, but both him and Stefano Gattuso will be back in Silverstone for round 5.

Davide Mazzoleni (Team Manager): "It's a pity to see Stefano sidelined, even if for just one race, but once we were sure that he couldn't recover in time we tried to secure a worthy substitute and there's no doubt that Alvaro is the right man for the job. He's a well known quantity to the team, we know how much speed, professionalism and commitment he can bring, so we're happy to have him with us once again, and we're sure that Alan will benefit from his presence.
Just before this race weekend I'd also like to thank once more our technical staff, they did a real miracle repairing and heavily shunted car in so little time. The same goes for all our partners and supplier, who did their best to make sure that resources and spare parts where available in record time. We wouldn't have raced this weekend if it wasn't for all of them".
