Kvsh Racing Driver Sebastien Bourdais Looking To Keep Momentum Going At Pocono IndyCar 500

KVSH Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais will be looking to build on the momentum he generated from consecutive top-five finishes last weekend during the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston doubleheader when the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season continues at Pocono Raceway with the Pocono INDYCAR 500, July 5-6, in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.

Bourdais, who will be behind the wheel of the No. 11 HYDROXYCUT - KVSH Racing Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone car for the second jewel of the Verizon IndyCar Series' Triple Crown, will sport a new livery on the 2.5-mile three-turn tri-oval nicknamed the "Tricky Triangle." The livery, which will be used for this event only, will be red and feature the #SHATTER logo on the sidepods. #SHATTER is a Pre-Workout MuscleTech product that is produced by Hydroxycut's parent company Iovate.

Bourdais, who climbed four positions in the championship standings to eighth following a fourth place finish in Houston Race No. 1 and a fifth in Race No.2 last weekend, will be making just his second appearance at Pocono. He made his debut there last year qualifying 12th (started 11th after penalties) and finishing 16th.

"We had a pretty good weekend in Houston," Bourdais said. "Not as good as it could have been, but two top-five finishes isn't bad. We moved up in the standings and have some momentum now which, of course we want to continue at Pocono. This will be just the second time I have raced at Pocono Raceway. Obviously it is a different kind of big oval and it really has only one groove. There is a reason why they call it the Tricky Triangle. We were supposed to test there during the break, but unfortunately we got rained out. We won't know until we get to the track, but hopefully, based on the team's performance last year, we will come off the truck with a good setup."

Bourdais, the only driver to win four consecutive U. S. based open-wheel championships (2004-2007) will be making just his 17th career oval start this weekend. In 16 previous oval events (six in Champ Car and 10 in Indy cars), the 35-year-old Frenchman has three victories, all in Champ Car (Las Vegas in 2004, 2005 and Milwaukee in 2006). In his 10 IndyCar oval starts his best finish is a seventh this year at the Indianapolis 500. Half of his oval starts have come in the last two years.

Bourdais has amassed 242points in the first 10 races of the 2014 season on the strength of four top-10 finishes including three top-five showings (season-high fourths at Houston Race No. 1 and at the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis, the fifth in Houston Race No. 2 and a career-best seventh place performance in the Indy 500.

The Pocono INDYCAR 500 will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 12:00 p.m. (ET). It can also be heard live on IMS Radio Network affiliates, XM Channel 209, Sirius Channel 213 IndyCar.com, IndyCarRadio.com or via the Verizon IndyCar14 app.
