2014 Daytona II: Jeffrey Earnhardt NASCAR Nationwide Race Preview

Although still early in his NASCAR career, Jeffrey Earnhardt has a relatively busy worksheet at Daytona International Speedway.

He finished seventh in the Truck series race at DIS in 2011 and has a top run of 19th in Nationwide events.

“It’s all about drafting at Daytona, and if you can get hooked up with the right group you can fly,” Earnhardt said. “I’m sure we’ll have a strong race car there. Hopefully, we can make some noise.”

Earnhardt is 17th in Nationwide driver points entering the Subway Firecracker 250.

Practice for the race is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Qaulifying is set for 3:10 p.m. Friday, followed by the race at 7:30.

The Subway Firecracker 250 will serve as the qualifier in the “Dash 4 Cash” bonus program where the top four drivers to receive NASCAR Nationwide Series driver championship points in that race will carry the “Dash 4 Cash” designation in the first race of the bonus program at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Introduced in 2009, “Dash 4 Cash” rewards the highest-finishing eligible driver in four designated races with a $100,000 bonus above and beyond the race purse. Fans can also participate via a sweepstakes that culminates with one lucky fan winning $100,000. The July race at New Hampshire followed by the race at Chicagoland Speedway, the event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the race at Iowa are the “Dash 4 Cash” races for 2014.
