Finger Lakes Wine Festival Collaborates With Elmira Street Painting Festival


Watkins Glen International is proud to welcome the Elmira Street Painting Festival as a new addition to the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese, July 11-13. With the Elmira Street Painting Festival the following weekend, July 19-20, the two combined festivals play an important role in the Finger Lakes as they provide the local area with two back-to-back weekends of wine and art.

“Community partnerships are very important to us, and we know firsthand that there is always something special going on in the Finger Lakes,” stated Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “We are thrilled to work with Jennifer Herrick and her artists to provide our wine tasters with a glimpse of what they can expect to see the following weekend if they stay here in our region.”

As part of their display at Building B, Site No. 417, during Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York Artisan Cheese, the Elmira Street Painting festival will feature a local artist as they create a one of a kind masterpiece using only chalk on the WGI pavement. This will allow festival goers the opportunity to get a glimpse of the art and creativity that will color the streets of downtown Elmira the following weekend.

Tickets for the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese, July 11-13, and accompanying festival events can also be purchased online at flwinefest.com or by calling 866.461.RACE. One-day taster passes are $35 in advance or $40 regular. Two-day taster passes are $45 in advance or $50 regular. Advance pricing is only available for a limited time.

Elmira Street Painting Festival is a free event in downtown Elmira, July 19-20. The festival, which is run by Elmira Downtown Development Inc., is a two day celebration of art where local and regional artist use the pavement as a canvas to transform the streets of downtown Elmira using only chalk. From Renaissance Classicism to Pop Art, artist come together to display their diverse talents in a variety of creative styles.
