2014 British GP (Silverstone): Formula One F1 LIVE Q1 Qualifying Stream - Ferrari, Williams Fail

By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers

The Formula One F1 series is qualifying in mixed conditions for the 2014 British Grand Prix at the Silverstone Circuit in Silverstone, United Kingdom. Fernando Alonso was the biggest name knocked out in the qualifying after spinning at Luffield. He was unable to get back to the checkers to finish a timed lap on slick tyres. But behind him was Kimi Raikkonen and his No. 7 who also failed to turn a lap on the slick tyres.

The last time both Ferrari failed to qualify in the Q1 session was back in Malaysia in 2010.

In addition, Austrian Grand Prix pole sitter Felipe Massa failed to get out of Q1 qualifying as well. Overall, an epic fail for both Ferrari and Williams.

Nico Rosberg and his No. 6 Mercedes was quickest in Q1 with a lap of 1:40.380 followed by Daniel Kvyat (Toro Rosso), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Jules Bianchi (Marussia), and Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber).

KO'd in Q1: Kamui Kobayashi (Caterham), Marcus Ericsson (Caterham), Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), Felipe Massa (Williams), and Valtteri Bottas (Williams).

Should dry conditions appear at any point, Pirelli have brought the hard (orange) tyres, and medium (white) compounds.
