Gleason Heads To Japan For Aston GT3 Debut In Asia GT Series

Philadelphia’s Kevin Gleason is set to compete in the highly competitive GT Asia Series with Craft Bamboo Racing this weekend at Japan’s Fuji International Speedway (13 July).

Standing in the foothills of the picturesque Mount Fuji, the 2.90mile Fuji International Speedway is a circuit steeped in history having hosted several international premier race series since its birth in the early 1960s, including Formula 1 in 2007 and 2008.

American Gleason, who contested the hugely demanding Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour and ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24 Hours earlier this year, has begun a new chapter in his racing career after parting company with BimmerWorld Racing in the Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge to further his international career.

With a career founded on touring cars in the US, Gleason takes the step up to GT3 machinery for this weekend in Craft Bamboo Racing’s Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 at Japan’s iconic Fuji International Speedway alongside partner Jon Venter.

GT Asia is an emerging series with international coverage and is based on a two-driver pairing with two one-hour sprint races, which both Gleason and Venter will contest.

Craft Bamboo Racing, which was recently named as an official Aston Martin Racing Partner Team – a prestigious accolade shared only among 15 teams worldwide – will contest all 13 rounds of the 2014 GT Asia Series with a stellar line-up, including Stefan Mücke and Gleason.

“I am thankful to have the opportunity to drive a Craft-Bamboo Racing Aston Martin,” said Gleason. “It will be a new track and a new car for me, so we have to keep our goals reasonable. I am to work hard with the team, improve each session and run strong races for a competitive result.”
