GB Autosport Set For Canadian Debut

Following a successful outing in upstate New York at Watkins Glen International, GB Autosport now looks to carry its positive momentum even further north for the seventh round of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this Sunday.

Set to make his third IMSA race start with GB Autosport, Briton Ben Barker returns alongside Damien Faulkner to share the driving duties of the No. 81 Tully’s Porsche 911 GT America for the shorter 2 hour and 45-minute Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance.

Thanks to hard work from the entire crew and some quick and consistent efforts from the drivers, the Tully’s crew came home to the checkers at the Sahlen’s 6 Hours of the Glen largely incident-free, matching the team’s best finish to date with their third top-10 finish of the season.

The team now heads to the high-speed 2.459-mile, 10-turn circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario looking to build on their recent positive results. The track is new for many drivers set to compete in the GTD Class this weekend, and Barker is among those as he arrives at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park looking to once again make quick work of learning a new track.

He will have the advantage of an experienced teammate, as Faulkner will arrive to the track some two hours outside of Toronto with a healthy amount of experience on the Canadian road course including three starts in GTC competition, netting a podium and two pole positions (2011 and 2012).

“I think we are all pretty excited about racing at Mosport this weekend,” said Team Manager, Cole Scrogham. “Watkins Glen was a positive weekend for us to continue to build on and we’ll change focus a bit with the shorter race distance but the goals are all the same in terms of executing on both sides of the pit wall. We are still a young team, but we are always building, pushing and improving and in the last two rounds we have finally started to see some results that reflect that. So hopefully we can continue that trend for this weekend.”

The Tully’s crew will have just three, one-hour-long practices ahead of qualifying to prepare the car. Qualifying will be aired live on IMSA.com on July 12th at 5:20 PM (ET).

The green flag for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance is set to go green on July 13th at 2:05 PM (ET) and will be broadcast LIVE on FOX Sports 1 starting at 2:00 PM (ET).
