Kvsh Racing's Bourdais Looking Forward To Iowa Speedway Challenge

KVSH Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais heads to Newton, Iowa for the Iowa Corn Indy 300, July 11-12, looking forward to the unique challenges presented by the shortest track in the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Bourdais, in the No. 11 MISTIC E-Cigs - KVSH Racing Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone machine, will c ompete for just the second time on the .875-mile Iowa Speedway oval. The 35-year-old Frenchman made his Iowa debut last year qualifying 19th and finishing 14th.

Commenting about the Iowa race, Bourdais, who is coming off a strong, yet disappointing performance on the 2.5-mile Pocono Speedway oval said, "I raced at Iowa last year for the first time, so it is another oval that I have only driven once. The team has had a good short track setup the last few years, so hopefully it will work for me. I think we have made progress and are headed in the right direction. We just have to keep at it and hopefully we can have a good result in the Mistic car."

Bourdais, the only driver to win four consecutive U. S. based open-wheel championships (2004-2007) will be making just his 18th career oval start this weekend. In 17 previous oval events (six in Champ Car and 11 in Indy cars), he has three victories, all in Champ Car (Las Vegas in 2004, 2005 and Milwaukee in 2006). In his 11 IndyCar oval starts his best finish is a seventh this year at the Indianapolis 500. Nine of his 17 oval starts have come in the last two years.

After the first 11 races of the 18-race 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season, Bourdais is in 10th place in the championship standing with 271points. He has finished in the top-10 four times including three top-five showings (season-high fourths at Houston Race No. 1 and the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis, fifth in Houston Race No. 2 and a career-best seventh place performance in the Indy 500).

The Iowa Corn Indy 300 will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 8:00 p.m. (ET). It can also be heard live on IMS Radio Network affiliates, XM Channel 209, Sirius Channel 213 IndyCar.com, IndyCarRadio.com or via the Verizon IndyCar14 app.
