Performance Tech Prepares For Podium

Performance Tech Motorsports will head for the Canadian border for Rounds 7 and 8 of the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The team has seen four of its five drivers earn podium finishes this season. This time the team hopes to see a podium sweep with its Masters Championship drivers, Craig Duerson, Jon Brownson and Joel Janco, all competing in the L1 class.

This is the series' only trip outside of the United States this season and will prove to be an exciting one. The track, commonly referred to as Mosport, is 2.459 miles of blind corners, high-speed straightaways and elevation change.

The goal of landing the Performance Tech fast five - Craig Duerson, Hayden Duerson, Robert Alon, Brownson and Janco - on podium will be challenged only by the circuit's 10 turns and the No. 10 car of series leader Mikhail Goikhberg. Sweeping the previous race weekend at Watkins Glen International, Goikhberg helped JDC Motorsports pull ahead in the Team Championship.

Performance Tech is second in the Team Championship, 16 points behind JDC. But knowing the team's can-do attitude, Team Principal Brent O'Neill sees no reason why the team would not leave CTMP in the lead.

"We'll have extra time to focus on the Lites car this weekend with PC not running," O'Neill said. "I think this track will really suit the Duersons' and Alon's racing styles. I think we have a good shot at seeing them all on podium at Mosport.

"You can't focus on the championship at all times. It's definitely a goal, but as cliché as it is, you have to take these things one race at a time. You never know what will happen in a weekend, but we will be pushing for wins the rest of the year."

Practice starts at 9 a.m. (ET) Thursday, July 10, with qualifying at 3:40 p.m. Friday, July 11. The 30-minute Race 1 takes place at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and the 45-minute Race 2 is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Sunday, July 13.
