Ben Allcorn and Ashley Donnithorne – Apprentice of the Year winners from the Passenger Car division – spent the week shadowing the Research and Development, Race Support, and Build teams - learning gearbox assembly and hydraulics. Whilst Lan Dempsey and Dominic Drury – from the Commercial Car division – spent time in the Life Stores, with the Inspection team and in the Wind Tunnel.

Angela Shepherd, Head of Training at Mercedes-Benz UK, commented: “We’re delighted our apprentices had the opportunity to experience a week at Brackley – a fitting reward for their hard work and dedication on the Apprenticeship Programme.”

Paddy Lowe – Executive Director (Technical) at Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team – met with the apprentices ahead of the weekend’s race to talk to them about their experiences on the Apprenticeship scheme and their time at Brackley.

Dominic Drury, Mercedes-Benz of Sparshatts Sittingbourne, commented: “The Parts Apprenticeship Programme doesn’t just provide you with the skills you need for the role but for your future career development within Mercedes-Benz. At Brackley, I felt like a valued member of the team in the run up to the race at the weekend.”

Ben Allcorn, Mercedes-Benz of Brighton, added: “The Apprenticeship Programme provides such a great opportunity to work on high-end cars – it is a fantastic place for anyone to start their career because you are starting with the best.”

The Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Academy develops young people for the Retailer network in order to support succession planning and Mercedes-Benz growth aspirations. This brand focussed programme, has a 96 per cent achievement rate and was rated by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’ in the ‘Outcomes for Learners’ category.
