Position to Win: Briscoe recorded his first top-five finish of the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season at Pocono Raceway last weekend. Throughout Briscoe’s 10-year career in the Verizon IndyCar Series, he has scored 38 top-five finishes and 66 top-10 finishes. In the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season, Briscoe has finished in the top 10 six times (St. Petersburg, Grand Prix of Indianapolis, Belle Isle, Texas, Houston) and in the top five one time (Pocono).

Fastest At Pocono: Briscoe and the No. 8 NTT Chevrolet recorded the fastest lap at the Tricky Triangle at Pocono Raceway. The fast lap came on lap 180 of the 200-lap race and clocked in at 220.044 mph.

Top of the Class: Throughout the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series season, Briscoe and NTT DATA Racing have completed 1,278 of the 1,299 laps or 98% of the seasons’ laps.

Wild Ride: Briscoe was signed to Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) in 2005 as a full-time driver, but after a season-ending incident at Chicagoland Speedway his Indy car racing career took a step back. Since his 2005 debut season he has raced with multiple teams, including a four-season stint with Penske Racing. Throughout his Verizon IndyCar Series career, Briscoe has collected seven wins, 13 pole positions and has led 1,430 laps. The 2014 season is his first full-time season since 2012.

In The Offseason: While he became one of the newest additions to the CGRT family, Briscoe added a new member to his own family in the off season. He and his wife, ESPN broadcaster Nicole Briscoe, welcomed daughter Finley into the world in December.

Finding New Roads: All four CGRT Indy cars are utilizing the Chevrolet 2.2-liter twin turbocharged V6 engine for 2014 season. The engine produces well over 600 horsepower and close to 300 lb. ft. of torque.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR IOWA SPEEDWAY

Ryan Briscoe and No. 8 NTT DATA Chevrolet

Iowa Fast Facts: The Iowa Corn Indy 300 will be the eighth Verizon IndyCar Series event at Iowa Speedway. Teams will race an extra 50 laps on the 0.875-mile oval for the first time this year. The seven previous races were 250 laps.

Blast From the Past: Briscoe has competed at Iowa Speedway in the Verizon IndyCar Series five times and has only finished out of the top 10 once. His 18th-place finish at Iowa came in his 2012 season after a crash took him out of the race. Briscoe scored a second-place finish at the short track in 2009 and a fourth-place finish in 2010.

Going Around in Circles: Of his 13 pole positions, seven of those have been on an oval (Chicagoland 2008, Milwaukee 2009, Chicagoland 2009, Kansas 2010, Texas 2010, Chicagoland 2010, Indianapolis 2012) and of his seven wins, four of those have been on an oval (Milwaukee 2008, Kentucky 2009, Chicagoland 2009, Texas 2010).

Race Rewind – Pocono Raceway: Briscoe started the 500-mile race in the 10th position and moved up to eighth by lap 13. NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing pitted for the first time for fuel and tires on lap 31 and had advanced to the fifth position by lap 36, until pitting for the second time on lap 62. After the second stop, the No. 8 NTT DATA Chevrolet had dropped down to seventh position on lap 77 and would then pit for the third time on lap 89 for fuel, tires, and wing adjustments. At the halfway mark of the 200-lap race, Briscoe was still in the seventh position and on lap 120 the No. 8 car pitted for the fourth time. The fifth stop for the NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing came on lap 150 and the field went yellow for an incident with the No. 15 car on lap 158. With 35 laps remaining, the field went yellow and on lap 172 Briscoe was still in the seventh position. Briscoe came in for his final stop of the race on lap 182 and in the final 18 laps of the race, the No. 8 NTT DATA Chevrolet would push its way up to the fourth position. Briscoe and NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing’s fourth-place finish marked their best finish of the season.

Briscoe, on the Iowa Corn Indy 300: “It feels really good to come into this weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway with a top-five finish under our belt finally. We’ve been working so hard this season and it feels like things are starting to fall into place. I’m excited to get out there at Iowa Speedway, especially after testing there earlier this season. Even though I didn’t race there last year, I felt confident on the track after that test in June. NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing has a lot of momentum going into the Iowa Corn Indy 300 and I’m ready to see what the No. 8 NTT DATA Chevrolet can do on the short track.”
