Competition Motorsports Heads North for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance

Following a short two-week break in racing action after two podiums in as many races at Watkins Glen, Competition Motorsports is prepared to enjoy the taste of more champagne for Rounds 9 and 10 of the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Presented by Yokohama at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this weekend.

For the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix Presented by Hawk Performance, Competition Motorsports will again field three cars with Michael Lewis in his No. 98 Competition Motorsports/Curb Agajanian Porsche doing battle in Platinum Class competition along with David Calvert-Jones in his No. 12 Wheels Up-Competition Motorsports Porsche while Fred Poordad will contest the Gold Class in his No. 02 Affinity Motorsports/TLI/Competition Motorsports Porsche.

Consistently a force to be reckoned with in the competitive Porsche Cup series, Competition Motorsports has frequented the GT3 podium with at least one driver present in every round of competition to date in 2014. In the most recent rounds at Watkins Glen, Lewis brought home a third place finish in Race 1 while Calvert-Jones added to the podium streak with a second place Masters Class finish in Race 2.

The team now looks forward to setting their speedy Porsche 911 machines free on the high-speed 2.459-mile, 10-turn circuit in Bowmanville, Ontario. It will be the first appearance at the track for Calvert-Jones, but Lewis and Poordad arrive at the track armed and ready with prior experience. In fact, it was at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park that Lewis won the Formula BMW Rookie Championship in his first-ever season of racing.

“It will be nice to get back to a familiar track environment, but with that being said, the circuit has gone through some changes since I last drove there,” said Lewis of the Canadian road course. “It is good to have the promoter test day on Wednesday to clarify some racing lines and really attack to get the set up on the No. 98 Competition Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian Porsche 911 dialed for the two official practice sessions and then for qualifying on Friday Morning. There are a lot of high-speed corners and it is a fast track so I am excited to put the Yokohama Tires to their limit and fly around this track in front of a great Canadian Motorsports fan base!"

The first of the two 45-minute races is set to go green on July 11th at 5:40 PM (ET) with Race 2 at 10:10 AM (ET) on July 12th.
