Zeta Corse Takes An Early Lead On Friday At The Nurburgring

It's been a positive day of solid work for Zeta Corse at the Nurburgring. Lining-up for the sixth round of the 2014 Formula Renault 3.5 season at the German venue, the team did a good job and even managed to cruised to the front of the charts with Roberto Mehri. Although the teams and drivers of the championship faced delays and shortened sessions due to the thick fog that plagued the track in the morning, Zeta Corse rebounded well and stayed on an high note.

Back after his sensational win at Moscow Raceway, Roberto Mehri continued to showcase his speed skills as he topped the cumulative charts for the two collective test sessions, also leading the PM one. Despite all the drivers were slowed down by yellow flags and traffic, the Spaniard posted a late quick flyer that turned out to be a tough match for everybody else.

Russian racer Roman Mavlanov had his first taste of a high-power open-wheel car at the venue, ending up in 16th place and displaying great room for further improvement. The 20-year-old from Moscow and his Spanish team-mate are now looking forward to take up the challenge tomorrow in Qualifying 1, which will be followed by Race 1 at 12:35.

Roberto Merhi: S1 - P16; S2 - P1
"After the first practice I didn't expect to be back in the lead although we had showed our potential at Moscow. On the other hand, it's not as easy as it might appear by watching the charts and there's still some work to do in order to be at our best. Also, the problems with the fog this morning changed our planning a bit. In the end though I'm happy because the car is still working well. I really like this track and I hope to get good results tomorrow".

Roman Mavlanov: S1 - P21; S2 - P16
"Today it went good, there was a lot of traffic in the second session so I waited a bit and did my best lap then. The set-up isn't bad and there is something we still need to improve to close the gap. The basic handling is also good with new tires: I set a many fast sectors with them although I couldn't put them all together in one lap. I look forward to do it tomorrow".
