Draco Looks Forward To Day 2 After Solid Practice Work At The Nurburgring

The opening stages of the sixth round of the World Series Renault 3.5 season at the famed Nürburgring venue hadn't offered very welcoming conditions, as after the heavy rains that fell on Thursday night a thick fog plagued the Eifel circuit for most part of the morning. Up until 11 AM the track activities were suspended and when the action finally went on, both the free testing session of the day were trimmed in length.

Nonetheless, the feedback was good for Draco Racing. Drivers Luca Ghiotto and Pietro Fantin faced a learning day on a track where none of them had driven the series' Zytek-powered Dallara cars in the past.

And despite all the variables, the young Italian rookie delivered some impressive runs by making his way to the top-10 in 8th during the morning session and finishing in 12th in the afternoon. His Brazilian team-mate ended up respectively in 13th and 14th suffering from a slight understeer conditions. Anyway his feel is improving and he looks forward to tomorrow's Qualifying 1 and Race 1.

Luca Ghiotto - S1 P8 - S2 P12
"All in all it went well. In the morning session I struggled a little bit sometimes because we had some very old tires, while with new rubber the car performed well in the afternoon. I set my fastest lap after several laps from putting new rubber on due to the many yellow flags, so I think we'll have the chance to score even quickest laptimes tomorrow. We'll also try to refine the car's set-up and line-up in our full shape in Qualifying 1 and Race 1".

Paolo Fantin - S1 P13 - S2 P14
"It went OK but I don't think that today's position is where we actually belong. In addition to the yellow flags I had some understeering issues but I'm sure that they will be solved in time for tomorrow. Also, there is something to fix on the driver's side. Coming here with such a powerful car is like learning a new track because it's so wide and you have to perfect your lines lap after lap".
