An Up-And-Down Race And A Top-10 For Draco Racing At The Nurburgring

International Draco Racing ended up with a top-10 position and some good hopes for tomorrow in Race 1 of the World Series Renault 3.5 weekend at the Nürburgring. As the championship's teams and drivers went on-track to resume racing activities at the tough German venue, the outcome for the Italian squad seemed promising, although the results eventually turned out to be bittersweet. Brazilian Pietro Fantin scored a valuable points finish in seventh after qualifying in 8th. The young racer from Curitiba did a great job in taming an heavy rainfall that hit the track in the last few laps. He was consistent and avoided any mistake or dangerous situations.

His team-mate, Italian Luca Ghiotto, has been much less lucky. After qualifying in 9th, the 19-year-old from Vicenza delivered a good start and was in sixth place. Unfortunately, an early spin put him out of contention.

After another day that featured a foggy morning and some delays with the addition of the rain, more surprises are expected for tomorrow. Qualifying is scheduled for 9:15, and will be followed by Race 1 at 12:35. The Draco team is looking forward to more improvement in an effort to fight among the frontrunners.

Pietro Fantin - Q1: P8; Q2: P7
"The start was quite ok but Laine shut the line at the first corner so i didn't have the chance to improve my position, so it could have been better. I tried to set a consistent pace and I managed to stay there, although I think our potential is even higher than we showed today. I still had some understeer issues, so we are going to work on the car to make it better. I think we'll have a good chance to fight at the front tomorrow".

Luca Ghiotto - Q1: P9 - R1: DNF
"My start has been very good and I managed to get away with a sixth place after qualifying in 9th. Everything seemed set for a positive run but on lap 7 the rear of my car snapped and I couldn't save it. It's a pity because the pace was clearly there. I hope to have my say at the front on Sunday".
