Draco Racing Faces Hard Luck In Race 2 At The Nurburgring

There wasn't any fog today at the Nürburgring for Qualifying 2 of the World Series Renault 3.5 weekend in Germany, but the drivers found heavy rain on-track and conditions that were not expected. The session was then followed by a race that turned out to be a difficult one for International Draco Racing stable. Pietro Fantin, who managed a good 9th place on the grid, continued on the same note from the start and showed to have the pace needed to stay with the leading pack. Unfortunately, a late gearbox problem forced him to retire.

Luca Ghiotto, who had qualified in 14th, was off to an awesome recovery up to 8th. The Italian rookie then found himself with a stalled car at the mandatory tire change, an incident that cost him lots of time and the chance to hit the points zone.

The next round for the World Series Renault 3.5 will be after the summer break at Budapest, on the 13th and 14th of September.

Pietro Fantin - Q2: P9 - R2: DNF
"Unfortunately I got hit by a gearbox problem and I was stuck in 5th gear, so I had to stop and retire. Up to that point things looked good, the car had improved and I had the same pace of the pack in front of us. It's a pity but I'm happy that we had finally found the speed this weekend. Now we head for the Hungaroring, a track I know well and where I hope to take full advantage of our potential..."

Luca Ghiotto - Q2: P15 - G2: P15
"It's a pity because my start had been good and I was able to gain many spots. In addition to that, the pace was quick and I showed it in the latter stages. Unfortunately my car stalled at the pit-stop, and any chance to recover disappeared. After the bad luck at the Nurburgring, I hope for a smoother run in Hungary..."
