2014 Toronto: Chevrolet IndyCar Race Preview

With six victories in 12 races by drivers powered by the Chevrolet V6 2.2 liter engine, the Bowtie Brand takes the lead in the Verizon IndyCar Series Manufacturer Championship standings to the Streets of Toronto for the final doubleheader event of the 2014 season.

In addition to the Manufacturer Championship contest, Team Chevy driver Helio Castroneves brings a nine point lead in the Driver Championship standings over his Team Penske teammate Will Power. The points available from the pair of 85-lap/149.74-mile races will be pivotal in the championship battle with just six races remaining in the 18-race season.

"Team Chevy has a lot of momentum coming into this weekend for the final double header of the season," said Chris Berube, Chevrolet Racing Program Manager, Verizon IndyCar Program. "Our teams and technical partners have been preparing for these events for quite some time and the fans can expect to see a strong performance from the Chevy-powered entries. We have 10 drivers who each have the capacity and skill to win on any given weekend, and when coupled with the twin turbo Chevrolet IndyCar engine’s exemplary reliability and always improving drivability, it puts them in a position to win. Toronto is looking to be an epic battle."

Giving Chevrolet three of the top-five in the Driver Championship standings is the third Team Penske driver, Juan Pablo Montoya, who sits in fifth place 66 points behind Castroneves.

Other Chevrolet IndyCar V6 drivers in the top-10 of the standings are: Scott Dixon, No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Chevrolet, eighth; Ryan Briscoe, No. 8 NTT Data Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, ninth and Tony Kanaan, No. 10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet, heads to Toronto i10th in the standings.
