2014 Toronto: Andretti Autosport IndyCar Saturday Recap

It was a long and rainy day on the streets of Toronto where the Verizon IndyCar Series attempted Race One of the "2 in TO" doubleheader weekend. Unfortunately, due to relentless track conditions and multiple attempts at a green flag, track activity was finally canceled around 6 p.m. ET - more than two hours after the originally scheduled start time for the race.

Prior to the rainout decision, three contenders in the field failed to complete parade laps, forcing them to the back of the pack and gaining each of the Andretti Autosport teammates at least one position.

A revised Sunday schedule has not yet been confirmed by IndyCar Officials, however, the revised Mazda Road to Indy agenda still allows for two Indy car races rounding out the weekend in Toronto. Stay tuned to Twitter via @FollowAndretti and #2inTO for more updates as they become available.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 28 DHL Honda

"The conditions were tough for sure, I can't speak for the drivers in the back on how visibility was but it was borderline - marginal even - for us. It's a shame we didn 't get the race off, especially considering a couple of championship rivals ended up in pit lane just before we were going to go green. It would have been nice to capitalize on that opportunity, but understand the call for safety. Not sure yet what tomorrow will look like, but looking to IndyCar to make the best decision for all involved . Big thanks to all the fans that came out today and stuck with us, we look forward to putting on a good race for them tomorrow."

James Hinchcliffe, No. 27 United Fiber & Data Honda
"I 'm gutted. I just feel so bad for all the fans here in Toronto. It's the worst case scenario - the rain started right as the race was supposed to start, the conditions were just so bad. I've literally never in my career seen a race not run because of weather, and obviously that wasn't an oval. Just gutted for these guys. I really hope we can get back tomorrow and mother nature cooperates a bit more and we can put on a show. These fans have been great all week and they definitely deserve it."

Carlos Muñoz, No. 34 Cinsay Honda

"So obviously the race was canceled, but before that, I think we didn't get the qualifying we wanted. Again, everyone was really close, and our group was really competitive. Hopefully we get another shot at qualifying tomorrow."

Marco Andretti, No. 25 Snapple Honda

"I don' t know where we would have ended up today, but starting last we wanted a shaken up race. I was bummed to have the race called."
