2014 Toronto: Andretti Autosport Indy Lights Qualifying Recap

The Andretti Autosport Indy Lights duo took to the streets of Toronto for a practice and qualifying session today. Matthew Brabham and Zach Veach spoke with our friends at AndrettiTV following qualifying on the 1.75-mile circuit and you can catch that daily recap on here.

Matthew Brabham, No. 83 United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED
• Will roll off the grid from the third position for tomorrow's 45-lap race
• Recorded the second fastest time during the morning practice session

"Qualifying started off really well. I was P1, P1, P1 every lap, and then all of a sudden the Belardi (Auto Racing) guys just got that last few tenths on me and I couldn't quite go any quicker. It was just one of those sketchy kind of didn't know what was going to happen because of the conditions since it was so treacherous out there. I actually spun the first lap, and it ended up giving me space and being a positive for us. I'm happy with third; I think if the conditions were a lot better, we probably could have had a better shot at pole. I think we have a really solid race car in the United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED machine and we'll definitely be going for the win tomorrow."

Zach Veach, No. 26 RePLAY XD
• Betters his starting position on the 1.75-mile circuit from 2013 (eighth) to sixth
• Was fifth fastest during practice two on the streets of Toronto

"Overall I'm just a little frustrated with how today went. I kind of think we went in the wrong direction with adjustments in the car. With the rain coming down, I think we waited too long to up the downforce and change to the new tires. I think, in a way, we have a lot more speed than what we showed in the car, but I'm just a little disappointed I couldn't prove that to everyone today. I want to thank my RePLAY XD guys for working so hard and we'll be back up to the front tomorrow."
