2014 NHRA: John Force No 1 But Robert Hight Races To Victory At Mile High Nationals

John Force qualified No. 1 at the 35th annual Mopar Mile High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway but he came up a few tenths of a second short from getting the BrandSource double up when Robert Hight got the win light today. Hight, the 2009 Funny Car champion, outran his teammate and boss 4.166 seconds to 5.953 seconds in the 43rd all JFR final round.

When John Force solidified his No. 1 qualifier status Daniel Price of Westminster, Colorado won the washer and dryer from BrandSource. Twenty four hours later Christ Angelos (in attached photo) of Colorado Springs, Colorado won a 55” TV as part of the Win with Force promotion.

“(This win) shows that we work well as a team. We work together. I knew we were going to give the fans quite a race. For four runs in qualifying we were side by side. John went down the track all of them. A lot of the success this weekend goes back to John Bandimere. I call this the coolest track in the country because it has the cooling system under the racing surface. If you didn’t have that system there would be a lot of tire smoke,” said Robert Hight, a five time winner in 2014.

On Sunday Hight outran Todd Simpson, Courtney Force and Tim Wilkerson before he met up with Force in the final. This win was the 34th of Hight’s career.

At each NHRA national event when a JFR team qualifies No. 1 a lucky fan that has signed up at the JFR “Win with Force” display located in Nitro Alley will be eligible to win the BrandSource No. 1 Qualifier Award, a front loading washer and dryer set. If a JFR driver wins the event a different fan will win the 55” flat screen TV Winner’s Circle Award from BrandSource. At the end of the season a grand prize winner of the “Win with Force” Sweepstakes will be awarded a 2014 Ford Escape S-Series.

Thanks to a winning season by John Force Racing in 2013, BrandSource gave away eight flat-screen televisions and nine washers & dryers to lucky fans. More than 24,000 race fans registered to win prizes at the “Win with Force” display in NHRA’s Nitro Alley. Another 91,000 fans signed up online at BrandSource.com.

Fans can sign up to win at the John Force Racing interactive midway display. This 53-foot trailer will be in the Nitro Alley area of every NHRA Mello Yello Series national event in 2014. The “Win with Force” promotion now includes JFR team partners Castrol, BrandSource, Ford, Traxxas and Mac Tools, all joining together to create an incredible promotion for the fans.
