AMG Customer Sports: Two SLS AMG GT3 Amongst Top Ten

AMG customer teams achieved good team results with the SLS AMG GT3 in the traditional 24-hour race of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Five out of seven race gullwings crossed the finish line. HTP Motorsport with start number 86 and the driver trio Maximilian Buhk, Maximilian Götz (both GER) and Jazeman Jaafar (MAS) ended the endurance race on the fifth position. The sister car with start number 84 and Harold Primat (SUI), Nico Verdonck (BEL) and Bernd Schneider (GER) finished the race with the ninth overall position. Bernd Schneider, DTM record champion and AMG brand ambassador drove the fastest lap of the race.

Start number 63 of Black Falcon with the drivers Yelmer Buurman (NED), Adam Christodoulou (GBR) and Mike Parisy (FRA) won position eleven. The SLS AMG GT3 of GDL Racing with start number 67 and the driver quartet Nigel Farmer (HKG), Keong Liam Lim (MAS), Jean-Charles Perrin (CAN) and Gianluca De Lorenzi (ITA) finished on position 31. The second gullwing of Black Falcon with start number 18 and the drivers Richard Muscat (AUS), Vladimir Lunkin (RUS), Saud Turki Al Faisal (KSA) and Christian Bracke (GER) ended the race on position 34. The third car of Black Falcon (start number 19) with the driver trio Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al Faisal (KSA), Hubert Haupt (GER) and Andreas Simonsen (SWE) had to retire from the race on Sunday morning after a technical failure. Due to an accident on Saturday evening, the third gullwing of HTP Motorsport (start number 85), driven by Xavier Maassen (NED), Sergei Afanasiev (RUS) and Stef Dusseldorp (NED) had to end the race ahead of time. This year’s edition of the endurance race in the Belgian Ardennes was marked by numerous accidents and long safety car phases in the first hours of the race.

Jochen Bitzer, head of AMG Customer Sports: “Unfortunately, a repetition of last year’s success did not work out for us. Due to the generally difficult conditions we were not able to achieve better results this time. I want to give my thanks to the customer teams of HTP Motorsport, Black Falcon and GDL Racing. All team members and drivers delivered the best results possible and showed their full commitment over the whole 24 hours of the race. Congratulations to Audi and the victorious team of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.“
