In front of 70,000, Jeff Gordon and his No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet has won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Crown Royal presents The John Wayne Walding 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana with a fabulous lap 143 restart catapulting himself around Kasey Kahne. For Gordon, it is his second win of the 2014 season, and 90th of his NASCAR Sprint Cup career. It is also his fifth win at the legendary Brickyard - which ties Formula One F1 driver Michael Schumacher for the most wins at Indianapolis (five). Gordon is the first NASCAR driver to win five times at Indianapolis, and the first driver ever to win five times on the oval.

Chevrolet has 10 wins this season, while Ford has 8 wins on the season. Ford had won the last four straight NASCAR Sprint Cup events, but the bowtie win today breaks that streak. Chevrolet has won the last 12 races at the Brickyard. Ford's last win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was Dale Jarrett back in 1999.

Kyle Busch and his No. 18 Snickers Toyota would claim second. For Busch, it is his sixth top-five of the year, and third top-five at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The effort ties Busch's previous best result at Indianapolis - second - back in 2012.

Denny Hamlin and his No. 11 FedEx Express Toyota would tie his best finish at the Brickyard - third (2008). For Hamlin, it is his fifth top-five of the season.

Matt Kenseth and his No. 20 Dollar General Toyota would finish fourth with Kasey Kahne and his No. 5 Time Warner Cable Chevrolet rounding out the top five finishers.

There was a competition yellow on lap 21. Leaving pit road, Danica Patrick and her No. 10 suffered a broken axle on lap 68 causing her to spin and bring out the second yellow of the day. With 64 laps to go, Trevor Bayne and his No. 21 slid up the track and hit the Turn three wall - apparently a tire going down - yielding caution number three. Caution four arrived at the hands of Ryan Truex and his No. 83 who was going slow on the back stretch on lap 139.

Next up, the NASCAR Sprint Cup series will travel to Long Pond, Pennsylvania for the second visit to Pocono.
