Leipert Motorsport: Podium For Automobili Lamborghini Racing Team Germany And Jeroen Mul In Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo

Last weekend Leipert Motorsport started with two Lamborghini Super Trofeo on the "Ardennes Rollercoaster" in Spa-Francorchamps. Even on the fourth race weekend of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe, the team was able to score a podium finish again.

The races in the context of 24 hour Spa with a starting grid of 25 cars were again extremely exciting. The free practice went already very well for Jeroen Mul (#22). Alexandre Martins (#21) however had an accident during the free practice. The car was so strongly destroyed, that it was no more usable for the rest of the race weekend.

In qualifying Jeroen Mul sat his sign after a short time and came in the box, lying on P2, in order to save his tires for the following races. In the final laps of the remaining qualifying time he slipped on 4th place, so the team and Jeroen decided to go on the track again. Unfortunately Jeroen didn't get a free lap in the remaining time and has to be content with starting position 7. Alexandre Martins couldn't participate in the qualifying, due to the strongly damaged #21.

Meanwhile, the team owner of a befriended Italian Lamborghini team offered to team owner Ingo Leipert an available Lamborghini as a replacement for the damaged Leipert car, because the driver of the Italian team could no longer attend the event. Herewith again thank you very much for the cordial and cooperative partnership, which is not self-evident. Thus Alexandre Martins was able to start the race with the replacement car, needless to say from the last place.

For the first race on Friday Alexandre Martins was able to improve some places during the 50 minutes race distance and crossed the finish line happily at the 14th position overall - 4th place in the category AM, short outside the podium.

Jeroen Mul started from P7 and had shown the team and the spectators exciting overtaking maneuvers in the first half of the race. In the second half of the race, he gave the spectators still nerve-wracking remaining minutes and secured - with 0.3 seconds behind the car in front - in second place overall and the PRO class the next podium.

In the second race on Saturday morning Jeroen Mul (# 22) started from the 2nd place. Right from the start everything went well on the Ardennes rollercoaster. Jeroen was able to keep his position and managed directly to get away with his rival in front from the rest of the field.

Both cars at the top drove top times, came at the same time in for the mandatory pit stop and left the pit lane again at the same time. The spectators had a lot of fun because of the "Battle of the Giants", the two front runners. Unfortunately it was not possible for Jeroen, to overtake the leader. Thus for the second time this weekend he secured important Championship points with his 2nd place in the overall standings and the PRO class and was celebrated on the podium by the team and the spectators.

Also Alexandre Martins (# 21), who had started the second race from 14th place, made a good job. By reason of a spin in the second half of the race he lost a few places and crossed the finish line in 17th position overall, 6th place in the AM class.

"Jeroen and Alexandre have shown a great performance," said team owner Ingo Leipert after the two suspense-packed races. "Jeroen was able to secure important championship points and is still in second place. We are very satisfied with the results. We will attack again at the upcoming race weekend at Nürburgring, our home track."
