Percat spent the opening session acclimatising to the circuit and posted the 16th fastest time.

After his crew made a few minor tweaks to the HHA Racing Commodore, Percat improved his time to stop the clocks 7th fastest in the second of three 20-minute sessions.

In the final hit out of the day, Percat completed 12 trouble free laps of the circuit and for a short while sat atop the timesheets, before ending an encouraging third fastest.

Quickest overall was Volvo’s Scott McLaughlin, followed by Chaz Mostert (Falcon), then Percat.

Rounding out the top six were Shane van Gisbergen (Commodore), veteran Russell Ingall (Commodore) and championship leader Mark Winterbottom (Falcon).

A satisfied Nick Percat said: “I am very happy with the way we went today. It’s a great result for the team and I am really looking forward to qualifying and the two races tomorrow”.
