Mid-Ohio USF2000 Race 1 Quotes: ArmsUp Motorsports

Peter Portante // #24 ArmsUp Motorsports // Qualified 3rd (1:21.386) // Finished 3rd
It was an interesting race, for sure. It was nice to finally have a decent qualifying position of P3, and that’s really were the race is won, per se. I lost a position on the start to P4 and got stuck behind a driver for quite a few laps. Once I got by him, and it was clean sailing through the end. I’m disappointed I was stuck behind that driver and couldn’t fight with the leaders, but I’m excited to be P3 and finally have stuff go our way. I’m going to be consistent, and tomorrow’s another day so we’ll see what happens.

It was a decent day here at Mid-Ohio. It was a little up and down. We had a whole variety of sessions; practice, qualifying and a race. Practice and qualifying went alright. Our car was solid and I ended up qualifying 4th, which was a good effort from me and the team. For the race, I didn’t have the world’s greatest start, and fell back to 6th in the first lap. I was held there until it started raining, and once that happened, it was anybody’s guess what was going to happen. Cars were going everywhere, and the rain was in different corners. It was nuts. You’d be up to 4th one lap and 10th in the next corner. It was hard to judge how things were going to go. I thought overall it was an okay day. There are two more races left, and I’m looking forward to each of those, that’s for sure.

James Dayson // #16 ArmsUp Motorsports // Qualified 20th (1:26.837) // Finished 17th
Qualifying went very well. I did a personal best, and I’m happy with the progress I’ve been making this weekend. The team gave me a great car again. The race was definitely a challenge. The changing conditions threw everyone out a bit. I’m getting more seat time and more experience after missing half the season. The biggest thing is bringing home the car with all four corners on it. I know what I need to work on for tomorrow. I was a little weak on the start and restart, so I need to push a bit harder for tomorrow and Sunday.
