"I'm a little disappointed; we finished fourth today - one spot from the podium. With the weather that was coming in, we decided to make pretty big changes before the start of the race, and when we got out there, it was pretty much dry at that point. I think maybe we compensated for the weather a little too much. We know what we did wrong, and I'm very confident in my Andretti guys. We'll go outtomorrow and be back where we need to be' we're definitely going for another podium and points. I got to run with my teammate a bit; Matt (Brabham) and I had a couple close battles. We really enjoyed it and that's part of being on a team together. We're really close and we enjoyed our run together."

Matthew Brabham, No. 83 United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED
• 20-year-old endured problems with his gearbox during the race but held on to a fifth-place finish
• Rookie holds on to his fourth place in the championship
• Starts tomorrow's Race Two from the third position

"It was a little bit of a disappointing race at the end there. I thought we had good speed at the start, and before I had some troubles with the gearbox, I was fighting for third place and the podium with (Luiz) Razia. He had a broken front wing, and I was a lot quicker than him, so I felt I had a really good shot at passing and maybe getting third (place). We had a small issue with the gearbox... it felt like it broke and was stuck between third and neutral - I could only pick from those two. I was kind of stirring the pot with the gear-shift lever and doing all kinds of crazy stuff to try and help it. Half a lap later, all of a sudden, I was about to give up and it just clicked back into gear and started working again. After that it was really loose, so I was just being really careful with it and trying to get the car home. It was unfortunate that happened because I thought the United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED car had a good chance at getting on the podium. That's just the way it goes sometimes... We're looking forward to tomorrow, and we have a better starting position, so we'll see how it goes."

Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck
• Series sophomore captured his fourth podium of the season with a third-place finish on the 2.25-mile circuit
• Remains in the fourth position in the points championship

"I'm pretty happy with the result - it's a really good points day for us. The damage to the nose actually happened right at the start... it seemed like someone slammed on the brakes when it went green. I had nowhere to go, so I just kept my foot in it, and it worked out that we got a position out of it. Overall, I'm really happy about where we finished. The guys who we needed to get points on were more than two positions behind us, so that was a really good bonus. I wish we could have won... I think we had something for second place at the very end, but we needed him to make a mistake, and unfortunately, he didn't. We'll take P3! It was a decent day for the team; hopefully we can come back and get another podium or even a win."

Garett Grist, No. 27 DaVinci Foods/Lander Property Management
• Rookie recorded a top-10 finish in ninth position on the permanent road course
• Holds on to his sixth place in the championship points fight

"We had a good start, but overall it was a tough race. We went off in Lap 4 or 5 and lost six or seven spots and just couldn't recover. This track makes it so hard to pass - there's one passing spot. Everyone runs so much downforce, and as soon as you get near them, it's hard to carry speed through the corner. We're going to look at data and video to see what we can fix for tomorrow. We definitely had a better car in practice and qualifying than we did in the race... unfortunately we really struggled in the race. We'll see how we can get a better car for tomorrow."
