After a great start from the fourth grid spot, Percat jumped into third behind Moffat and Courtney and immediately had to defend his position from Scott McLaughlin (Volvo).

By lap 10 Moffat had opened up a gap on Courtney with Percat still in third and being pressured by McLaughlin.

Lap 14 saw Percat make his first pitstop for fuel and tyres of the 200km race and was followed into and out of the pits by McLaughlin, who was running a similar strategy.

By mid race and following the completion of the first round of pitstops Percat sat in sixth place behind Lowndes, Courtney, Winterbottom, Mostert and Whincup.

Percat pitted for his second and final pitstop adding fuel and two new tyres on lap 39 and dropped to 14th.

By the end of the 65-lap race Percat crossed the line seventh, adding to his impressive tally of top ten finishes in his maiden V8 Supercars season

James Courtney in the Holden Racing Team Commodore won today’s encounter and was followed across the line by Craig Lowndes (Holden) and Chaz Mostert (Falcon) rounding out the podium positions.

Fourth went to Scott Pye (Falcon) followed by early race leader James Moffat (Nissan), reigning champion Jamie Whincup (Holden), and Percat. Nissan’s Michael Caruso finished eighth, with Holden duo Garth Tander ninth and Shane van Gisbergen tenth.

Nick Percat: “I want to say a big thank you to my engineer Alex and Performance Manager Ty and all the guys working on the #222 HHA Racing V8 Supercar for making it so good on the soft tyres today.

“The car ran faultlessly all day in the longer race, of the Coates Hire Ipswich 400 and have plenty of momentum and motivation to take to the next round at Sydney Motorsport Park in a couple of weeks time”.
