2014 Mid-Ohio: Andretti Autosport Indy Lights Race Recap

Zach Veach, No. 26 RePLAY XD
• Stockdale, OH native captured his seventh podium of the season in second place during Race Two
"I'm just really happy! We came from a little behind yesterday and finished in fourth. We changed a lot of the car, and my RePLAY XD guys did a heck of a job; my car was perfect for me. I'm very happy to take home second place. This is my first podium in Ohio, my home state, so I'm really happy about that. We just have to keep pushing from here and go win in Milwaukee."

Matthew Brabham, No. 83 United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED
• American racer's bad luck continued when his left rear tire was cut at the start of the race forcing contact with a competitor and ending his day before turning a lap

"I got a really good start, and I was coming down the straight (when the incident happened); it felt like the wind at first. The car was going sideways down the straight and it was moving all over the place, then when I got into Turn 1, as soon as I hit the brakes, the whole rear end of the car just bottomed out. It felt like I just had no grip at the rear - I just spun; I'm sorry for (collecting Luiz) Razia. My tire was gone before I got to the corner, and I couldn't brake the car - everything was locking up. I'm not sure what happened behind me at the start... I think we were all pretty closely bunched there. Maybe I caught a little bit of a hit from behind? It's just disappointing we weren't able to go out and show what the United Fiber & Data/MAZDASPEED team was capable of."

Garett Grist, No. 27 Lander Property Management/DaVinci Foods
• Canadian captured his second career Pro Mazda win
• Led 19 of the 20 laps for today's Race Two on the 2.25-mile track
• Heads to the Grand Prix Trois Rivieres to race in GRC Lites as the only Canadian in the field - look for the No. 7 Lander Property Management/DaVinci Foods car

"We got (Nicolas) Costa on the inside to Turn One, and we held (Kyle) Kaiser on the other side... from there, we never looked back. We had a great car with consistent laps, and if we needed to turn it up, I was able to. I'm so thankful to my Lander Property Management/DaVinci Foods guys for everything they did this weekend; I'm very happy to bring home the win for them and my family who made the trip down (from Canada) to support me."

Shelby Blackstock, No. 28 Starstruck
• 24-year-old wasn't able to turn a lap after being launched at the start and suffering too much damage to continue
"We haven't had these problems until recently... the guy in P2 just went (at the green flag) and the polesitter didn't. When one guy goes on the front row, the whole field is going to try to go because your main opportunity to pass is often on the starts and restarts. Unfortunately we had a bad qualifying two days ago, so I was P9. Our row went, and I launched over the guy in front of us... nothing we could do. I feel bad the No. 28 Andretti Autosport crew, but it is what it is. I talked to race directors and they said they'll do what they can after the race. It's irritating - it's my biggest pet peeve; I understand getting taken out in racing, it happens. To get taken out before the green flag is probably my biggest pet peeve. Unfortunately we didn't even get to race. The Starstruck car was good from what I felt, so it's unfortunate, but we'll look ahead to Milwaukee."
