Kvsh Racing's Bourdais Finishes Second In Honda Indy 200

KVSH Racing driver Sebastien Bourdais started on pole and led 38 laps, but could not overcome an untimely yellow and an extremely fast and fuel efficient Scott Dixon, so had to settle for second place today in the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio at the Mid-Ohio SportsCar Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Bourdais, in the No. 11 Team MISTIC E-Cigs - KVSH Racing Chevrolet/Dallara/Firestone machine, captured the pole yesterday, then led the first 25 laps of the race relinquishing the lead only during a pit stop and then only for two laps. The 35-year-old Frenchmen retook command on lap 28 and led again until lap 39 when he, and most of the field, once again pitted during a yellow. However, Scott Dixon, who started last and had pitted a couple of times earlier in the race to top off his fuel, stayed out and took over the lead. Bourdais rejoined in second place, but was on black (primary) tires and lost another spot to Josef Newgarden. When Dixon pitted on lap 62, Bourdais moved back into second place before pitting on lap 65. He rejoined in fourth place, took over third when Mikhail Aleshin pitted and then passed James Hinchcliffe on lap 68 to retake second. Bourdais tried to chase Dixon down, but the New Zealander not only had a very fast car, but also managed to conserve fuel for an astounding 28-laps to earn his fifth victory at Mid-Ohio with Bourdais five seconds behind.

Commenting on the race Bourdais said, "It's been a great weekend for the No. 11 Team MISTIC E-Cigs - KVSH Racing team. We won the pole yesterday and finishing second today. We didn't have the car we thought we were going to have especially on the reds (alternate tire). Then we got a little unlucky with the yellow coming out when it did and then having to restart on the black (primary) tires on a green track.I was really slow for four or five laps and Dixon pulled away and I could never catch him. The car was pretty solid on blacks as we knew it would be. It just was not quite good enough on the reds. It's great to get another pole and podium for the KVSH crew and Chevrolet. They guys did a great job and we will keep digging. So, overall it's been a great weekend for everyone.

Today's second place showing is Bourdais best finish on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn Mid-Ohio permanent road course in five starts. Bourdais has now placed in the top-10 four times with three top-five performances. His previous best finish was fourth in 2012 (fifth in 2003 in his only Champ Car start here).

Bourdais earned 42 points this weekend and is now eighth in the championship standings with 400 points on the strength of seven top-10 finishes including five top-five showings, two podium performances with one win (Toronto Race One).

Next up for KVSH Racing is the ABC Supply Company Inc. Wisconsin 200, August 16-17, on the Milwaukee Mile in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The race will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. (ET) on Sunday 17th August. They can also be heard live on IMS Radio Network affiliates, XM Channel 209, Sirius Channel 213 IndyCar.com, IndyCarRadio.com or via the Verizon IndyCar14 app.
