Hawksworth Fights Through Difficult Mid Ohio Weekend

Jack Hawksworth entered the Mid Ohio race weekend with high hopes following a recent string of good results on road and street courses. Hawksworth has earned two sixths and a third in his last four road/street course starts in the Bryan Herta Autosport #98 entry, in addition to a win in last weekend’s Tudor Sportscar Indianapolis event. Unfortunately the streak came to an end Sunday after team and driver struggled with poor handling and an ill-timed yellow flag in the 90 lap contest around the twisting Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.

Driver Jack Hawksworth quoted, “Not a very good day. It’s a tough one to swallow, but we’ll come back and have a good one at the next race in Milwaukee.”

Team co-owner Bryan Herta stated, “Just a tough day the office. We struggled to get the handle on the car all weekend and then we caught an untimely yellow and it didn’t help our strategy. At the end of the day we didn’t get the performance from the car we were looking for. I want to thank Collection Auto Group for sponsoring us here in their home market in Mid-Ohio.”

The Verizon Indycar Series breaks for a week giving the team ample time to return to their Indianapolis headquarters and do a full rebuild on the team’s Dallara Honda car in preparation for the final three race push of the season. “The Hawk” and his BHA crew will be looking to finish the year on a high note and build momentum to carry them into the off season.

Indy Car returns in two weeks on August 15-17 for the final stretch of the season with three remaining in the 2014 Verizon IndyCar Series Season.
