Brennan Newberry - Autolite Iridium XP 150 Post Race Recap

On Friday night Brennan Newberry made his fifth NASCAR K&N Pro Series East-West combination start at Iowa Speedway looking to build off the success he had back in May. During the dual practice sessions on Friday, Brennan Newberry and crew chief John Monsam showed major strides as they worked to get the Qore-24 Chevrolet back as it was a few months prior. The team practiced in race trim set-ups throughout both sessions on Friday, knowing the track would change as the sun settled and the Nationwide Series cars had their two practice sessions prior to the start of the Autolite Iridium XP 150. Newberry would go out 31st of 43 cars for qualifying and with a fast lap time of 24.352, would line up his Qore-24 Chevrolet on the outside of row 9. When the green flag flew for the Autolite Iridium XP 150 just after 8:00pm, Newberry found his groove and had started his charge toward the front. In the large field of competitors from both the K&N East and K&N West Pro Series, the field quickly closed in on slower competitors. Newberry was making his way around the lapped cars, when on lap 18 he got spun coming off turn four, as one of those lapped cars moved up the race track. Newberry would pit under the caution to change a right front tire and returned to the field in the 38th spot, one lap down and in position for the lucky dog that would never come. Unfortunately, Newberry's race ended at lap 71, just four laps before the halfway break, when he had a right front tire go down forcing him hard into the outside wall of turn two. Newberry would be okay but would have to retire his Qore-24 Chevrolet Impala early from the Autolite Iridium XP 150.

From the Driver's Seat with Brennan Newberry: "Unfortunately, the weekend didn't go the way we had hoped in Iowa. My NTS Motorsports guys had to work hard to find speed in my Qore-24 Chevrolet for practice and qualifying. Our race ended abruptly when our right front tire blew before the halfway point. This is a race that my team and I want to move on from and look forward to the final four races."

On top of Box with Crew Chief John Monsam: "At the end of the night in Iowa we didn't get the finish we were hoping for, we had a strategy going into the event that we weren't able to capitalize on. Brennan was very happy with the car in practice and we felt good going into qualifying and the race. We started the race a little too loose but thought it would come to us the more laps we put on the tires. Unfortunately, we were spun and blew a right front tire. I am proud of the hard work the NTS Motorsports guys put in this weekend and I look forward to getting to upstate New York for the next race at The Glen."
