CTCC In Trois-Rivières: A Strong And Competitive Field

The Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières is one of the most attended race events in Canada and the Canadian Touring Car Championship (CTCC) presented by Continental Tire will be presenting its Rounds 11 and 12 on the August 7-10 weekend.

GP3R has always been a highlight of the CTCC season, but this year will be one to be remembered with a total of 38 cars of a maximum 40 allowed on the track. In previous CTCC appearances at this event, the challenging and historical 3.4km track has proven to be a true test for the CTCC entrants. The corners push the brakes to their limits, with no room for error between the concrete walls. With an impressive field, driver skills and well-prepared machines are the key to finishing this event. It promises to be the best CTCC show of the year.

The experienced field of CTCC competitors welcomed fifteen new and young drivers this season and CTCC is proud to acknowledge the talent of four female drivers competing in the Super and Touring Class fields. Amongst those young drivers is Samantha Tan; a 16 year old MINI Cooper/Team Octane driver that has a brilliant racing career ahead of her. Her coach, the well-renown Pierre Savoy, makes sure that every move and decision she makes in the car are the best ones.

With the race to the CTCC Championship almost over and only one last event after Trois-Rivières, CTCC competitors will test their skills and try to earn as many points as they possibly can. Leading in Super Class with 1070 points, Roger Ledoux is just ahead of Remy Audette by 26 points who won’t back off for anything. In Touring Class, Michel Sallenbach leads with a comfortable 162 points over Karl Wittmer and even more points over his arch rival Damon Sharpe. These battles promise to be very exciting to watch.

The annual Trois-Rivières appearance of CTCC is considered as one of the season highlights for both the audience and the participants. Beginning with Round 11 in the dark on Thursday night and wrapping up Sunday morning with Round 12. The results are always unpredictable, but the on-track action makes the wait for a winner to be declared well worthwhile.
