Confidence High For Siméon And Baldassarri Ahead Of Brickyard Battle

Xavier Siméon and the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 are ready to fight this weekend at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, tenth round of an extremely fought and levelled Moto2 World Championship: the Belgian rider is even more determined to fight back and he expects to return to the good level of competitiveness shown at the beginning of the year at the famous American track.

Like Siméon, Lorenzo Baldassarri trained hard during the summer break, and following the two points scoring finishes achieved in the first half of the season - in Barcelona (11th) and Assen (9th) - the 17-year-old Italian is aiming to collect more precious points in Indy aboard the Team Gresini Moto2 Suter machine.

XAVIER SIMEON “Finally we are back on track and I am confident because in the upcoming races we won’t use the hard compound tyres with which we struggled a lot in Barcelona and at the Sachsenring: we know that our bike has a great potential and we know that if we are able to exploit it we can get better results. During the summer break, I continued to work hard to arrive in Indianapolis even stronger and more prepared: I trained a lot, doing also Supermoto and Dirt Track with the team in Italy. I’m excited and I can’t wait to start the first free practice session”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI “During the summer break I was able to make a good training and I rode a lot as well, doing especially Supermoto and Flat Track; of course I also took a little time to relax, I needed it! In Indianapolis we will start the second part of the championship, in which I expect to improve the two points scoring finishes scored in the first half. Indy is certainly not one of my favourite tracks, but it must also be said that it has been resurfaced and the modifications made it faster, so it should be more funny to ride than in the past”.

FAUSTO GRESINI “We are all eager to get back on track after the summer break, especially Siméon: Xavier is very determined and during the break he trained a lot to be prepared in the best possible way for the second part of the season. He knows he has the potential to be back on top and also the team is working very hard. Therefore, we are very confident: we need to wait to see how our bike behave on a track which in some ways is unknown because it has been resurfaced and modified in several corners.Recently, Baldassarri took a major leap in quality, so we expect that he can continue his positive trend”.
