Armstrong Looks to Rally on Road Courses at Watkins Glen

The NASCAR Nationwide Series will head to a road course this weekend for the second time this season. Even though Dakoda Armstrong scored a 25th-place finish in the first road course event of the season at Road America, he's optimistic for a solid finish this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

One reason is that he'll have veteran teammate and road course ace, Marcos Ambrose, to lean on this weekend as he competes in the Nationwide Series event. Also, Armstrong has logged more laps at Watkins Glen than any other road course on the Nationwide circuit. He made some laps on the course during a trip to New York just a few weeks ago and logged many hours on the 2.45-mile track on the simulator. Despite a 25th-place finish at Road America due to an on-track incident, Armstrong feels confident going into the weekend. He was happy with the team's effort at the Wisconsin track and is looking forward to another solid campaign.

Charter Communications will return to the No. 43 Ford Mustang for the second time this season.

"I'm excited about going to Watkins Glen, but those rookie stripes on the back of our No. 43 Ford are definitely well deserved on the road courses. We were really good at Road America until it rained, and that's mostly on me. I've never raced on rain tires or in the rain before so that was something I just wasn't used to. Based on how well the car was at Road America, I'm pretty confident going into Watkins Glen that we can get a solid finish. I was able to take some laps around the track a few weeks ago, and I've done a lot of laps on the simulator. Another bonus for the weekend is Marcos (Ambrose) will be running the Nationwide race, so it'll be really beneficial to have him around and running the same car. I'll definitely be leaning on him for advice throughout the weekend. As good as I felt we were at Road America, road courses are challenging, so while I think we'll have a good weekend, I'm ready to work hard."
