Target Locked On Another 450 MX Win For GEICO Honda's Tomac In Unadilla

There are only three more races left on the 2014 Pro Motocross schedule, and GEICO Honda 450cc rider Eli Tomac is confident about his chances of grabbing another victory before the season is over.

Previous success at Unadilla has the GEICO Honda rider thinking that the next win could come as soon as Saturday at the Red Bull Unadilla National in central New York

"For me this is a really good track," Tomac said. "I've always done well here and I think that's because it fits my riding style really well.

"This track has a lot of long ruts and many bumps on it but it's also a high-speed course at the same time. It's a really solid track that requires you to be in good shape."

With already 10 podium finishes under his belt since his return from injury at the Red Bull Tennessee National, including an overall win in a sweep of the two motos in Spring Creek, Tomac is looking to continue his streak this weekend.

"This season has been going well for me," Tomac said. "Since I've been back on the circuit, I've been on the podium every race and even got my first two career 450 wins. With my history at this track, I really think that will be a good chance for me to get another 450 win, so I'm excited."

Even after missing the start of the season, it's the young GEICO Honda rider's consistent top-three finishes that have propelled him up the championship leaderboard. Sitting ninth currently in the standings, Tomac is in position to jump up four or five more spots this weekend.

"At this point it's all about winning though," Tomac said. "It's cool to be making my way up the championship standings, but as a racer, I don't compete to be fifth in points. I race for championships. After missing part of the season, I'm just out there to continue getting podium finishes and hopefully a few more wins."

Tomac will look to continue his streak of podium finishes when the first 450 moto starts at 1 p.m. ET with coverage on MAVTV. Live coverage of the second 450 moto will begin at 3 p.m. on NBC.
