Downtime Should Prove Beneficial For Geico Honda 250 Riders In Unadilla

Still on the hunt for his first 250 motocross win of the season, GEICO Honda rider Justin Bogle has used an off weekend in the schedule to better-prepare himself for Saturday's Unadilla National in New Berlin, N.Y.

"I'm feeling really good," Bogle said. "I've been out in California working with my trainer and doing a lot of testing with my team to get me even more comfortable on the bike."

With a lot of good history at Unadilla, Bogle, the reigning 250SX East champion, knows exactly what to expect during both of Saturday's 250 motos.

"Unadilla is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit," Bogle said. "I'm always happy to go back there, and this year is definitely not any different. It was the site of my first ever outdoor national, and I've always done well there even when I've had a so-so season going.

"It's definitely a difficult track and the place is always tough, but I love it."

Even with Unadilla being a challenging track for riders to conquer, Bogle is optimistic that his previous success there could land him that elusive win.

"We're still grinding for that goal of that first 250 moto win," Bogle said. "I've been close quite a few times this season; I just need a little bit extra and that's what I've been working on this past off weekend. My GEICO Honda is incredibly fast. I just want to get a good start and hopefully get on the podium with a moto win."

Teammate Matt Bisceglia, who made his pro debut at Unadilla one year ago, also has been using his off time to prepare for his return to central New York.

"I'm excited to go back to New York," Bisceglia said. "Obviously, it was my first national last year after my big week at Loretta Lynn. It will be cool going to a track I have already been to."

Looking to make progress not only from his first trip to New Berlin last year but from this season as well, Bisceglia has put the pressure on himself to make his mark in the last three events on the schedule.

"I want to make improvements on my finishes from this season and be in the top 10," he said. "It's all on me to pick up the pace a little bit more and improve on my speed this weekend.

"The motos are always long and last year the track was really gnarly and really rough. I don't know what the weather is going to do this year, but I know last year it rained all day before the race, which made the track really crazy. The weather will determine how the motos will play out."

GEICO Honda rider Zach Bell also is hoping to make some improvements this weekend in Unadilla. Spending his off time training as well, Bell hopes that all of his hard work reflects in his results this weekend.

"I'm hoping for a great weekend in New Berlin," Bell said. "I really need to gain some confidence and I feel like this is a good place to start. I've had a good off week of training and preparing for a course I know will be demanding physically for sure.

"I'm excited heading into Unadilla, and I'm more than ready to show everyone what I can do."

All of the GEICO Honda 250 riders will take to the track for the first 250 moto at 2 p.m. ET, with live coverage on MAVTV. Coverage of the second 250 moto will begin at 4 p.m. on NBCSN.
