Simeon And Baldassarri Get Back To Business On Updated Indy Track

At the end of the day, Siméon clocked the 15th fastest time in 1’38”522: the Belgian rider struggled in the beginning to find the rhythm, reaching the right feeling with the bike only in the final stages of the afternoon session, and tomorrow he will continue to work on the set-up of his Suter machine to try to reduce the gap from the first positions.

In the Team Gresini Moto2 garage, Lorenzo Baldassarri started well the second race weekend of the year on America soil, closing the morning session in ninth position and then closing the combined classification of the two sessions in 14th position with a time of 1’38”522. The Italian rookie will work tomorrow to improve the behaviour of his bike under the changes of direction.

XAVIER SIMEON (15th - 1'38"522)
“Today, unfortunately, I took a bit too much time to find the rhythm and get the right feeling with the bike, so I'm not very happy with my performance. However, the important aspect is that at the end of the second session I began to feel more at ease, so tomorrow we can definitely improve and get closer to the top. The bike is not perfect at the moment, but we're not even in bad shape, we just need to fix some details, then we can be competitive”.

LORENZO BALDASSARRI (14th - 1'38"508)
“I'm happy with this first day fo practice, I started the first session this morning in a determined mood and with a good feeling, while in the afternoon I struggled a bit more to find the pace, but then when I put new tyres the feeling came back. Tomorrow we will try to improve the bike in order to be stronger under the changes of direction, because at the moment I'm struggling in this area. I like the revised track, which now is more flowing: it was fun to ride today”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“The outcome of this first free practice sessions is quite positive: Xavier struggled more than we expected, but at the end of the afternoon session he began to improve, therefore we remain confident that we can make further progress tomorrow. Baldassarri started right away with a strong attitude and we are satisfied with his performance: Lorenzo is following the positive trend shown before the summer break”.
