No. 60 Aero Ford EcoBoost Riley

Michael Shank Racing with Curb/Agajanian

OZZ NEGRI: It was quite a battle at the end. You really had to fight to get around Ryan Dalziel at the end to get this p2. “I had to get it done. Like John (Pew) said, it’s been a long time since we’ve finished on the podium and sometimes it seemed like it was never going to happen. The team put together a great strategy that put us up front and we had the track position, then it was just a matter of picking the places and passing when I could.”

JOHN PEW: “It’s been a tough year for us for sure. It’s been a lot of work. Very tough for the team. They give it 1,000 percent every weekend, so this is good for them. We had a good car all weekend. It rolled off the trailer really good. The engineers did a great job. Our strategist made a great call as well on fuel at the end. We thought we might have to stretch things out but the yellow flags helped us a lot. My buddy here (Ozz Negri Jr.) drove a great race and it’s great for the team.”

MICHAEL SHANK: “John and Ozz did a great job. We keep working on the car and it keeps getting better and better and better. This weekend was a big step. Really great strategy and pit work and that’s what did it. At the end Ozz’ driving was off the charts. He passed (Ryan) Dalziel on the outside of Turn 1, which is the hard way around. I just have to thank everyone for not giving up when it would’ve been easy to, with all the struggles we’ve been through this year. We’ll just keep digging and try to get better again at COTA (Circuit of the Americas).”

No. 01 Telcel Ford EcoBoost Riley

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates

MEMO ROJAS: “We’re a bit disappointed. The Telcel/Telmex/Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Ford team did an awesome job on the car. We were leading the race until more than halfway. We just got caught up with a yellow flag in the wrong spot where it obviously affected our strategy. All the leaders ended up on the back of the grid and with such little time to go, there was pretty much nothing Scott (Pruett, who drove the last stint) could do when the race started again. I thought we had at least a podium-finishing car, maybe a winning car, and it’s disappointing that with so many flags our race strategy was affected.”

SCOTT PRUETT: “It was just an unfortunate yellow. Memo (Rojas) did a great job today. We really thought we played the strategy correctly and then everything changed at the end. The car was good. The Ford EcoBoost engine ran strong. The results certainly didn’t show how well we ran today. It’s just one of those things.”
