Repsol Honda Team Continue In Front Heading To Brno

Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa back in action this weekend at historic Brno circuit. Rins and Marquez will try to close the gap in the Moto3 overall standings.

The MotoGP World Championship picks up the pace after its return from the summer break, with the second Grand Prix in as many weekends. Following on from the Indianapolis GP, the eleventh race of the season will be held this weekend in the Czech Republic. Marc Marquez will seek to extend his historic winning streak in Brno; after 10 wins from 10 races, something not done since Mick Doohan in 1997, the Spaniard heads to a track where he holds the circuit record from 2013. Teammate Dani Pedrosa, who is second behind Marquez in the overall standings, has been victorious at Brno in all three World Championship classes.

The Repsol Moto3 riders will be chasing a podium return this weekend, something they fought for at Indianapolis last time out. Alex Marquez lies third overall and Alex Rins fifth. The pair look to cut the gap to the series leader, at a track where Rins took pole last season with a lap that still stands as a fastest lap record.

Marc Marquez
"We’ve not really stopped! After the race on Sunday we had a nice dinner with the team and then yesterday we were travelling all day to Europe. Brno isn’t one of my favourite tracks but I’ve had quite good results there in the past. We were testing here a month ago and even if the grip was very low at the time, I hope some of the data we collected will be a help! Everyone knows that historically Yamaha are strong here so we’ll have to work hard from Friday to give ourselves the best chance on Sunday!"

Dani Pedrosa
"Brno is a track that I really enjoy, I usually do well there. I am really looking forward to get there and get back the feeling with the bike since Indianapolis did not go too well. I am hoping to be able to take full advantage of the good feeling we had while testing there before the Summer break and the setting we found then will help us push to get good results."

Alex Rins
"The Czech Republic circuit is quite peculiar and last year I found it a little difficult. Every time we take the Honda to a circuit we know, everything is new to us again because we have no previous references, so we have to find the optimal setup and do so quickly. We need to do so much faster than at Indianapolis in order to be up at the front."

Alex Marquez
"I think it is good to ride again a week after the Indianapolis Grand Prix, where I had a race that left a bad taste in my mouth. This weekend in Brno I will try to make amends. Last year I remember we did a great job all weekend and it was a circuit that suited me very well. I think this year we can also go well, because it is a good track for Honda. However we must be vigilant from the start in order to be as strong as possible. We need to try to recover ground on the two riders ahead of us. The Brno circuit is the most difficult in the World Championship, with many chicanes and a complicated setup to find, so we have to work from the first session harder than ever."
