Goodyear, NASCAR East at the Glen

Scott Heckert kicked down the door when he heard opportunity knocking and he won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Bully Hill Vineyards 125 at Watkins Glen International.

It was Heckert’s first victory in Series competition and the first race at the Glen for the Series since 2009.

Heckert and the other 24 drivers in the event raced on Goodyear Eagle bias-ply racing slicks. Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the East Series as well as the K&N Pro Series West and the Canadian Tire Series. The three racing circuits share a common rulebook and the same line of Goodyear Eagles.

The race was scheduled to last 50 laps around the twisting 2.45-mile Watkins Glen track but the event was extended by a late-race caution period. Heckert took advantage of the late restart to grab the lead, then stayed in front the rest of the way.

Road racing ace Andrew Ranger finished second, 1.173 seconds behind the winner. Ben Rhodes was third, followed by Kaz Grala and Jesse Little. Heckert averaged 82.942 mph for the race distance. Brodie Kostecki won the pole with a lap averaging 121.039 mph during time trials.

Rhodes leads the championship standings with 536 points. Cameron Hayley is next with 461.

Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
